Yoga Wear

Besides hours of intense exercise doing cardio, yoga, aerobics and dance classes, one of my favourite aspects of going to the gym is gym wear. Personally, I am not much of a "sporty" person, but if I am going to do something, I must do it right and get the full gear! Hence I've been looking around for the perfect gym outfit. To be honest, I cannot tell the difference between gym wear and yoga wear (please tell if you know), but since the yoga wears always seem prettier, I am going to focus on that

Yoga wear is just always sooo pretty and matching! Like these two sets here from Running Bare- everything is perfectly coordinated down to the color of the stripe on her pants! And here is a little something from Nike. Light purple on dark purple.

It even comes with a matching mat. Just puuuuurfect! I was going to buy this set actually, but alas, it was on sale and all the sizes have ran out at the shop

For something a little less coordinated but just as matching, there is this charming set from the Adidas Adilibria collection. I just love the soft colors of this set, its so tranquil and feminine.
A little bolder, we have this set I put together from Puma. . . . . . which matches perfectly with this burgundy Puma wrap! I can totally see someone wearing this at the gym cafe to keep warm after they've cooled down, while they catch up with friends.

This definitely makes me want to join a gym!

Tom Ford: Estee Lauder Summer 2006

Tom Ford's Estee Lauder summer 2006 collection has been out for a while, but I only recently had time to go check it out and luckily it was still there! (I'd missed the last collection and I heard there was a waiting list)

I'm not sure what I was expecting from the King of sexy fashion when it comes to make-up, but it was certainly something more spectacular than this. The Azuree collection (and everything else) is all very neutral with black shadows lining the lids (the only thing that would show up)-boring.
This collection was so similar that I had trouble telling the subtle difference between this Cap Bronzee collection and the Azuree one above (esp when its not shown side by side like this). Out of all three, this St Tropez collection is my favourite, because I think it'll actually show up on my face. Plus, I love the pinkish purplish tinge of the eye shadow and the icy pink color of the lipstick. I know being natural and bronze is all the rage this summer, but this is Tom Ford we are talking about. What he does should be more spectacular and fabulous than the rest of the fashion industry, shouldn't it? Am I just putting him on a pedestal and expecting too much? Or does he just have nothing to do with this collection and he's only "lending" his name out to Estee Lauder so the collection will sell like birkins?

Latest Love

Today I went into the Chanel store and fell in love. In love with this completely GORGEOUS Chanel bag.

It looks fab in this picture, but in real life it looks (and feels!) completely DIVINE. The style is elegant and the vintage feel of the worn leather just adds to the classiness. Sigh, I can stare at it all day.

I've even thought about how I would match it up! This evening bag cannot be paired with just any old evening dress (esp not the long ones due to its medium-ish size). Right now, I can only picture it with a classic cute black dress, like this one also from Chanel:Maybe something even simpler than this one! Sigh, I shall swoon. This bag will definitely be on my things-i-shall-buy-if-i-win-the-lottery list!

Pressed Powder

This summer, my skin has been annoyingly more oily than usual so changes had to be made to my makeup routine. Ever since last summer and throughout last winter, I used Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser for normal daywear, and Bobbi Brown oil-free liquid foundation for the very special nights out.

Usually these two products wouldn’t make my face oily and I wouldn’t have to use to oil-blotting paper until a few hours later, but I was shocked to find my skin oily after less than 2 hours this summer. I even tried putting on loose powder, which is supposed to help skin stay matte longer, but it didn’t work this time.

So obviously something had to change. Luckily, my mum just happened to have given me the DiorSkin Pure Powder Foundation in Easter, (it came in a promotional package.) I was hesitant to try it at the beginning because I have had some not-so-great experience with pressed powder in the past, but since I didn’t really have much choice, I decided to give it a go.

Yes! After a few days of experiment, I have come to the conclusion that while the pressed powder foundation looks a bit more cakey than the liquid foundations, my face actually lasted ok throughout the whole workday (that’s over 10 hours!) without being too oily. Obviously, my skin wasn’t as made-up looking at the end of the day since a lot of the makeup had already melted, but it’s definitely a huge improvement. Unfortunately, the DiorSkin foundation I have is slightly paler than my real skin colour. Oh well, who’s going to notice anyways?

Rain Shoes

The other day when it was absolutely POURING, my mom lent me her "rain shoes" to work. And they were marvellous! It was good in the rain and it looked incredible. Here are her criterias:
  1. Made in a waterproof material- preferably in black pantent. My mom is CRAZY about it. She even made me buy school shoes in that material when I was a kid when they were so NOT the thing.
  2. They should be in a classic style, for the obvious reason that it should last you through the test of time.
  3. It should also have just a bit of height so your feet don't get drenched. (Thats why I prefer these rain shoes over flips flops, because getting dirty water from the pavement all over ones feet is just not fun)
  4. Lastly, they should be relatively cheap. After all, they are for the rain.

Now I am very inspired to get my own pair of "rain shoes," good thing patent is all over the place.

These are not exactly the classic style or anything but the platforms look GORGEOUS. And I love the color. These two are from Nine West and Marc by MJ (I know, not exactly cheap..).

Then there are these stylish wedges. With these sturdy wedge heels from Nine West and Urban Outfitters, you won't even have to worry about slipping!
I LOVE these chunky black heels from Marc by MJ and Naturalizer. They look fabulous AND they are comfortable to walk in.
Then there are the sexy classic pointy black heels. These two are from Aldo and Nine West.
For something a little bit lower, there are these cute black patent kitten heels from Moschino Cheap n Chic and Steve Madden.

Going even lower, we have these black patent flats from Sigerson Morrison and Urban Outfitters, and since your whole feet is covered in this case criteria #4 is still satisfied!

Stay stylish in the rain everyone!

Dresses For the Daytime

Since I've been really into dresses this summer, I decided to blog more about them. I really love how whenever I have to decide what to wear this summer, I take even less time than usual becaues all I have to do is throw on a dress, a cardigan or thin outerwear and cute sandals. I know all the summer clothes are almost all sold out, but let's remember that it's still only early August and it's hot out there. So let's have more fun with summer before we change seasons!
This summer is all about the white dresses. The dress on the left is by Banana Republic. You'll like it if you like the classic and pretty look. The cute shirt-bubble dress on the right is by Mango.

I put these two dresses, by Guess (left) and Sunner (right), together because they somehow remind me of LA and a bit of Paris Hilton. I think the Sunner tube dress is a fantastic variation of the typical, boring, Juicy Couture-looking tube dresses.

Remember the shirt dresses? This black one is by Lux (Urban Outfitters.) It's so nice and simple. And the black material around the waist makes the dress so much more flattering!

This dress is basically the same as the black one above, but I just wanted to show everyone a trendy way to wear these dresses -Wrap a oh-so-fashionable patent leather belt around the wasit, and put on some footless tights (love them!)

This pretty, blue Free People dress has got daisy prints all over -definitely for the girly girls!

Another super affordable dress from Urban Outfitters. I'm not totally sure how it would look in real life, but it looks decent enough in the photos. This kind of dress is quite popular this season; it's very babydoll-ish. (Please make sure your makeup isn't too cutsie though!)

The dress on the left is by Free People. Barneys Girl and I have both tried it on and LOVED it. Unfortunately the shop ran out of our sizes, but we're still daydreaming about it! The printed sundress on the right is by Top Shop. I love the sharp blue colour and the style of the dress itself.

I hope everyone is having as much fun as I am with dresses this summer!

Asian Eye Make Up

As many of you have noted, the western way of eye-make up application simply does not work as well for Asian eyes due to different structures. So to make sure that Asians have some summer make-up fun as well, I've found some Asian inspirations for you.

As much as I didn't like Gina on last season's ANTM, her being on the show DID teach us something about Asian eye make-up application (I checked April as well, but she had western eyes). I love this dramatic blue fading effect with the smidgen of silver at the corners. Looks fairy-like.

A bit of eyeliner, a lot of mascara and some pinkish eye shadow, the look is very simple yet sophisticated.

For something edgier, here they used the usual mascara, eye liner and bronze-ish eye shadow, but added a black line underneath the eye to give it a more edgier effect emphasizing the slant of the eyes.

Fresh off the runway, is the pale pink lipped fresh faced look. For that effect, observe the asian models- Hye Park at Giambattista Valli and Han at Peter Som.

Then of course there is Du Juan. Love the sexy red lips and those lashes!! They are so perfectly long and curled!!

For more star style, take note from Ziyi Zhang and Lucy Liu. I just love the fresh faced look of Ziyi Zhang, it looks so natural (like nothing is on it) and yet we know a lot of effort was probably put into it.

Have fun girls!
