For this shoot I decided to head outdoors to demonstrate some key looks and trends. Over the next few weeks I'll be posting our collaboration.

Body Piercing and Beauty

Body Piercing is an art which have been practiced since the olden times. Looking back into the history of roman and Egyptians it can be found that the emperors and rulers were interested in Body Piercing even on those days. It was seen as something which should be done on the body of people who exist in the higher levels of society. But today things have changed a lot and the modern generation is fast liking the different forms of Body Piercing techniques. Any part of the body can be pierced and if it is adorned with a suitable piece of jewelry then it is in turn known as body jewelry. One common misconception which have been attributed with Body Piercing is that they are quite expensive in nature. This is largely due to image which is being portrayed for Body Piercing in the TV shows and movies. Body Piercing can be accomplished at cheaper rates too. Being cheaper doesn't mean that low quality materials are being used for the construction of the body piercing. It all boils down to the personnel who are undertaking the job. Also appropriate research must be accomplished in the online as well as the offline world for good deals on body piercing.

The piercing on the body is usually done on the node, tongue, chin, eye brows, nipples and lastly the navel. The prices may be high and low depending on the nature of the material being used for the construction of the body jewelry. Usually gold, silver and stainless steel is used for the process. But some people are known to be allergic to such metals. For them titanium and platinum products are available. Even some in the group may find these metals too allergic. For them it is best suited to invest on plastic or acrylic body jewelry. Body Piercing parlors are in existence all over the world and due to the popularity of the sport; people tend to flock in large numbers in such parlors. Now sometimes the personnel may be careless about the machinery which is used for the piercing job and this may in turn lead to infections. Infections may also occur from the improper manner in which the wound is being taken care of. Once infected the wound becomes painful and may lead to various other consequences. Loss of sensation in the region is one such symptom which has been seen as an after affect of body piercing.

Once an infection sets in appropriate care must be taken. Washing the wound with an anti bacterial soap or with salt mixtures are known to be effective in the long run. Never indulge in putting ointments in the region as the wound needs to breathe properly with the outside air. Care must also be taken not to wear tight fitting dresses as the friction cause by the dress will make the wound to take much longer time to heal. The range of products which are available for Body Piercing is virtually unlimited.

A Guide to London Fashion Week

London Fashion Week gears up for September 2009 - The pressure is already building for Spring /Summer collections to be ready for what could be a make or break show. Organised by the British Fashion Council, London Fashion Week is the premier event for British designers looking to promote their designs to a worldwide audience. Various schemes are in place to financially support the brightest young talents to enable the best to exhibit on a level catwalk with the world's leading fashion houses.

BFC New Generation is a scheme that is sponsored by Top Shop and supports young designers exhibiting during London Fashion Week. Estethica is sponsored by Monsoon and supports collections that are based on ethical, or ecological, or organic principles. Fashion Forward is sponsored by Westfield London and supports British designers who have already made their mark during London Fashion Week. It is a scheme that has helped several of the UK's top designers get established.

People wishing to attend specific catwalk shows outside of Trade and Press can do so at the discretion of individual designers. During the week, more than 200 British and international fashion and accessory designers will be exhibiting work which will have been kept under wraps right up until the day of the show.

Following London Fashion Week is London Fashion Weekend which is an extremely popular event where anyone who loves clothes and haute couture can get up close and personal with top fashion labels and buy clothes for slimmed down prices. During the event, fashion and beauty experts are on hand to give advice.

A simple stretch cotton dress is a great versatile addition to any wardrobe.

Here I demonstrate just a handful of different ways you can experiment with the one design to create a range of different outfits easily and inexpensively.

My tip: Be creative, but stick to styles that compliment your body shape and always dress to accentuate your good points. For example if your problem area is your legs, try a fitted style up top and a fuller/flared skirt.

A simple style dress like this also looks great with accessories so why not try creating new looks by adding different belts, jewellery, bags and shoes.

Featured designer: Alice Wark

A friend of mine put me on to the super talented local designer, Alice Wark.

This is just a sample of Alice's designs. I am loving her 60's and 70's inspired print maxi dresses. A very feminine cut, gorgeous colours and superbly priced at A$80.

These make for great summer dresses - simply add flip flops and your favourite accessories. The maxi dress also works just as well in the cooler months - layer over a fitted skivvy or team with a leather bomber jacket (Ways to wear: Leather jacket), add some tights, boots and shorten the hemline by adding a belt - perfect!
