Show Pony
THE humble ponytail was the hairstyle of the season at the summer/winter 2011-12 shows, with everyone from the Marc Jacobs to Christopher Kane and Gucci pulling hair high up on the catwalk. Strict, clean, simple, natural - all words used to be describe the easy style most of us pull our hair into every day. But when matched with a French maid's outfit at Louis Vuitton, a sleek jacket at Todd Lynn, or a Sixties aesthetic at Burberry, a ponytail can become sexually charged, futuristic or a little bit rock 'n' roll with the few minimal styling tweaks.
Metal Heads
THERE was the metallic mood in Paris as far as beauty was the concerned. Chanel's boyish biker collection was is given a touch of the feminine rock-and-roll with shimmering silver eyes and liquid metal grey nails care of their in-house creative director of make-up, the inimitable Peter Philips. Later in the day, make-up artist Pat the gave the eyes at Valentino a glimmering treatment by co-ordinating an iridescent blush on the eyes with the nice colour of the nude chiffon clothes. The true silver statement, however, was made at Alexander McQueen, where the girls were given metallic skull caps care of Guido Palau and his team who loaded up on the metal slides covering the entire head. Iron maidens, indeed.
