As the second instalment of Friend in Fashion's 'swim series' (part I here), I thought I'd showcase, one of my favourite new swimwear brands, Zulu & Zephyr - the creators of this adorable high-waisted bikini.

I've long admired high-waisted swimwear, but wasn't sure if I'd be able to pull it off.

To be honest, I've found high-waisted styles much more comfortable and modest than traditional skimpy bikini bottoms, and who can resist the retro throwback.

The bold tropical print, and ruffles are the icing on the cake on this sweet 'palm waisted triangle bikini'

As we inch ever closer to summer, I've pulled out some of my favourite swimsuits and teamed up with Tina Kay for a Miami-esque beach series.

I really like the versatility of one-piece swimwear, allowing you to look great at the beach, and then by throwing on a pair of shorts, or a skirt, you instantly have a chic bodysuit.

An amazing crochet cover up, like this one via Emma Clothing is also a must.

Beautiful one day, perfect the next

Dear friends,

As the full Melbourne chill sets in, I'm very happy to be packing up this weekend and heading to sunny far north Queensland for a well earned rest.

First port of call will be to dust of my bikini (also seen here) and take a dip in crystal blue waters set amongst gorgeous tropical surroundings.

To my International friends, ramping up for the summer, check out the beautiful range of swimwear from my friends at Sunburn Australia.

Want to Look Sexy as an Aussie: Try Tribe!

After years of research, Tribe was launched in 2008 as an underwear label that would make men look sexy and masculine, all the while feeling soft and comfortable.

Since the underwear line resembled swimwear, Tribe launched their line of swim suits a year later.

Now, this 100% Aussie brand has launched a collection of swimwear for spring/summer 2011 that should be a major hit in the Europe!

The collection ranges from simple geometric styles to Hawaiian patterns, all in several cuts.

The swim shorts with the contrasting waistband are particularly fun for the beach, but as a competitive swimmer my favorites are the swim briefs!

Bone Wear & Mr. South Africa 2011-01-09

BONE WEAR has been appointed the official underwear and swimwear supplier to the Mr. South Africa Pageant 2011, which takes place on 19 February 2011.

Current Mr. South Africa, Denver Burns, joined us for a photo shoot late last year.

Denver represents everything that one would expect from the title holder and was accommodating and fun to work with.

Our photo shoot was shot on location at Sherewood Lodge, east of Pretoria. This thatched lodge nestled on a rocky outcrop offers rest, peace, comfort and tranquility.

I was very lucky to receive this lovely swimsuit, courtesy of the team at Sunburn.

Since arriving home, each day has consisted of a visit down to the beach, so I've been living in this gorgeous bikini ever since.

Gigo: the Sexy Colombian Brand

Gigo is the name of a sexy brand of underwear, swimwear, and bodywear—100% made in Colombia.

Founded in 2004, CI CONECCIÓN 3 LTDA is the mother company. The designer is Javier Ortega, former model of underwear and swimwear in Colombia.

Javier mixes materials, textures, and original prints, as he causes colors to explode in originality!
For autumn/winter 2010, Javier has prepared “Arctic Spring” with flowers in the midst of ice, snow and darkness.

He also has created “Latin Lover” in red, black, and white for those who want a romantic, sensual winter season!

For those of you who follow football (soccer), make sure to check out the World Cup series and find your favorite team!

Briefs, boxers, jockstraps… What’s good about Gigo is that there is something for everyone.

What I like about the designs and colors is that most are based on nature, animals, and insects! Very original.

Onia—Swimwear for Every Occasion

At the Capsule Show last week, I had the privilege of meeting a young designer by the name of Carl Cunow.

Carl launched his swimwear label, Onia, after having worked at Steven Alan for 4 years.

He conceived the name while soaking up the sun, one day, on a beach in Israel. (“Onia” actually means ‘boat’ in Hebrew.)

Although fit for a boat, Onia is beachwear for men—just redefined.

The cuts are perfect for the “everyday” kind of guy—not too long and not too short.

Each model is simple and—most of all—functional. Carl pointed out to me that he intended the swimwear to be worn anywhere, just as if they were a pair of shorts.

They are fit for a relaxing day at the poolside, while versatile enough to sport with a nice top for an enjoyable night at the club.

Whether at the beach, boat, bungalow, or bar—Onia stands for practical shorts for practical guys.

Weekend away: Halong Bay

I write you, sun-kissed, upon return from an amazing weekend away in the beautiful Halong Bay.

Saturday morning we kicked off our adventure with a three hour drive through provincial north-eastern Vietnam, before jumping on-board the aptly named Jasmine junk boat.

We set sail amidst calm and tranquil waters and enjoyed the fresh air, warm sun and delicious fresh-caught seafood. An absolute highlight was a visit to one of the four, brightly coloured, floating fishing communities which occupy the Bay.

A trip to Vietnam would be incomplete without a visit to Halong Bay. The UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the most beautiful places the country has on offer and offers perfect respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.
