Dubai Fashion Week:

Saving the best for the last, Manish Malhotra of Studio 8 presented his glamorous Spring/Summer line at the finale of Dubai Fashion Week. Billowy smoke led the way for the models as they walked the sleek black runway to a background of geometric mirrors.
A skirt and bustier combination in shimmering black won audience appreciation with its wine colored trimming and flouncy material.

Bands of embroidered gold ran down the green velvet sherwanis donned by the male models. Worn with black and white patialas and jodhpurs with thin tapering legs, the outfits were accompanied by elaborate neckpieces in gold. Outfits with tri-colored bands were a runway fixture as anarkali salwar kameezes of pink, grey and orange were followed by lehengas in blue, green and teal.

Over the extra long weekend, we were treated to the perfect Autumn sunshine here in Melbourne.

A fabulous time had, indulging in cuisine from all corners of the world, the obligatory boutique hoping and a fierce bocce tournament with great company in the park.

Over the weekend, I was also thrilled to be involved in a blogger collaboration (alongside the beautiful Bianca and Jess), for the summer look-book of fabulous Melbourne-based accessory label Sarah Conners. I can't reveal too much just yet, but think bright colours, scorching summer heat and exotic locations.

A huge thank you to the incredible photographer of the day, Lee Oliveira. If you haven't already, do yourselves a favour and check out Lee's street-style blog, a true talent, you won't be disappointed.

HOT SAREES IN INDIA

The history of Indian clothing trace the sari back to the Indus Valley Civilization, which flourished in 2800-1800 BCE in India (Gujarat, Haryana and Rajasthan) and Pakistan (Sindh and Punjab provinces). The earliest known depiction of the saree in the Indiain subcontinent is the statue of an Indus valley priest wearing a drape.

SAREES IN PAKISTAN

Pakistan has different traditions and customs from other countries. The old Pakistani traditional bridal dress is of red color. But still people of Pakistan like that traditional red color in bridal dress. Well, the bridal dresses are based on customs and traditions. Bride always buy her wedding costume of her own choice. A few famous Asian bridal dresses are lehenga, choli, gagra, sari and peshwas and so forth.

SAREES

The most common style is for the sari to be wrapped around the waist, with one end then draped over the shoulder baring the midriff. The sari is usually worn over a petticoat with a blouse known as a choli or ravika forming the upper garment.

A  shari is a female garment in the World subcontinent. A sari is a strip of unstitched cloth, ranging from four to nine metres in length that is draped over the body in various styles.

It was ruffles, long trains, prints and heavily decorated outfits for HSY. The collection of lengha’s were heavily beaded and there was a ornate feel to his range. Pakistani supermodel Mehreen Syed was his show stopper
But it was definitely Manish Malhotra who stole the show. Opening his collection by walking down the catwalk himself in a black velvet jacket with splashes of bronze gold, the popular Indian designer set the tone for the rest of his range. Things were funky, young, sexy and sporty.
